I’m sure the big chains selling smoothies mean well. They’re just trying to give the customers what they want: healthy treats that taste delicious.
Unfortunately, thanks to a rash of pseudoscientific studies, many people think “healthy” means low-fat and high-carb. So most of those commercial smoothies are made from skim milk or low-fat yogurt, with extra sugar to make them palatable. There’s nothing healthy about that.
Make A Home Made Smoothie
That’s where this Blackberry Paleo Smoothie comes in. The only sweetener is the berries, so it’s low in sugar.
I also used full-fat coconut milk for healthy fat and some almonds for a shot of protein. You can start the day off with this paleo smoothie for your Paleo breakfast, enjoy it after a hefty lift session or at night for dessert.
It’s also great to take on-the-go. Just throw everything in a blender until well combined, throw it in a mason jar, and you can take it with you on whatever adventures you’re having for the day.
You could also probably gulp it down real quick before you leave, but I don’t recommend that. It might give you a brain freeze and you wouldn’t have the chance to truly enjoy your smoothie. Plus making time to enjoy your meals and being mindful of what you’re consuming is something quite important.
