The Paleo Cooking Coach
Hey there! I’m Marla and I have shared close to 400 recipes on Paleo Porn in an effort to help people understand that cooking with real food ingredients isn’t difficult. The recipes I share only highlight one specific way to make a meal however my goal with each recipe has been to show you how to use new (or new-to-you) ingredients. I mean for my recipes to act as a springboard so you can make adjustments and modifications because with just one single recipe, there are an unlimited amount of ways to experience new flavors.
The problem with recipes are they are a dime a dozen. There are millions of recipes available on the internet, in magazines, food apps and cookbooks, and I’m not even talking about paleo recipes specifically.
People are so busy now a days that the kitchen may just be the cleanest room in the home. Not because people are anal about cleaning the kitchen but because it’s the room that is least used or possibly never even touched.
If the kitchen is the most unused room in your home, then you need a cooking coach.
In our home, that is far from the case. With my self-taught cooking skills and my background in education, my goal is to teach people kitchen literacy.
More importantly, I feel everyone should know the basic kitchen fundamentals so that you can build your kitchen intuition. That means you wouldn’t need those million recipes, only the fundamental knowledge and understanding of how to work with a few tools.
For the same reason you hire a personal trainer at the gym, a tennis instructor or even a piano teacher; a coach is someone who can easily help you get better at something you enjoy or want to learn more about. A cooking coach is who you need to help you learn to be better in the kitchen.
When you prepare food at home you have all the control over where the ingredients are sourced and how they’re used, the portion size and the cost of the meal.
This all may seem very overwhelming to someone who hasn’t spent countless hours researching, learning and practicing these things. That’s where I come in.
What is a Cooking Coach?
You will work one-on-one with me, your paleo cooking coach. You will start your cooking practice by learning basic skills and we will build on your kitchen knowledge from there.
Your private cooking practice will happen from the comfort of your own home, on your own schedule and at your own speed. You will get one-on-one attention and will have all your questions answered, as you have them. Learning happens by doing and that’s what we intend to do.
You will learn basic skills, how to use specific equipment, how to best navigate the grocery store and source your ingredients, basic knife skills, how to stock your pantry plus food safety and handling.
Whether you’re just getting started using your kitchen for the first time or you are an avid kitchen user and just want to learn to make a few paleo/real-food meals, I’m here to be your Paleo Cooking Coach.
Let’s build your kitchen confidence together. Once you have your kitchen skills acquired, you won’t need to worry about recipes anymore. You’ll have built up your kitchen intuition to the point that you can whip up a meal at the drop of a hat.
