I have waited a year to share this recipe with you. Why, you ask?
Well, I started playing around with this recipe last year but after doing my trials last season I didn’t lock it down until this years fig’s came around again.

I didn’t get back to the grocery store to pick up more fresh figs again before they went out of season last year, so be aware that fresh figs are not like bananas (always available). Figs are only in season from late June through early fall.
Instead of doing a few more trials with dried figs, I decided to just wait another year.
My First Taste Of Fresh Figs
The first time I tried a fresh fig was in Italy. At that time I didn’t realize green figs even existed and at home I had only ever seen dried figs in the grocery store. So I was super excited when we came home and I found fresh figs available.

Thoughts On Ice Cream Makers
I’m not a huge fan of excess.
In this case I’m talking about an ice cream maker.
I went a long time not owning one because I don’t think it’s necessary and I don’t like having extra equipment in my kitchen, taking up space, that I don’t use on a regular basis. So if you’re curious how I got mine, the short little story of my ice cream maker lives over here.
If you don’t have access to an ice cream maker you can easily serve this as a Paleo smoothie instead of ice cream, if you stop after step 1 below.
Dairy Free Dessert
This Paleo ice cream is a seasonal treat so when you see those black (or green!) fresh figs at the grocery store or farmer’s market, pick some up and whip up this dairy-free vegan recipe.
