I just came back from the pool and I swear I think I’ve struck the jack pot! I’ve been “shoppin around” for a pool in my area that I could make my main pool to go to regularly throughout the winter – and by winter I mean during the 9 months of the year while the outdoor pool I usually go to in the summer is closed. If it wasn’t freezing cold outside for 3/4ths of the year I’d absolutely prefer to swim outdoors, but since I don’t live in the Caribbean that’s not possible. But my search has come to an end and like I said, I’ve struck gold! Basically I’ve got my own personal 6 lane pool, personal lifeguard and I don’t have to do any maintenance or upkeep. See…GOLD! :)
The Bensenville Edge Ice Arena built an addition on to the John St. Edge a long time ago and in that addition they built a pool. As it turns out, there’s not really much action during open swim during the week AND they have an annual pass on sale for residents and nonresidents from now until January 31st for $50… FIFTY BUCKS FOR A WHOLE YEAR!? Um, yes please. And I’ve now got a pool pass for the 9 months of the year, when I can’t swim at my regular outdoor pool.
I swam a half hour trial run this morning (before I purchased the pass) and swam 750m free, the typical triathlon Sprint distance, and a bit more random (fly/back/breast/free combo) afterward…before I decided to head home. I walked in the house and headed straight for the kitchen because I was starving and made a green smoothie along with some multi-spiced chicken tenders. Here’s the green smoothie recipe I made today.
