Coffee + Cafe
Paper or Plastik Cafe is a neighborhood coffee shop and cafe offering drinks (including wine, beer & coffee) breakfast, lunch, dinner & dessert in Culver City, a city in western Los Angeles County.
We found Paper or Plastik because we were able to easily walk there from the place where Jeff & I booked our Airbnb.
Our friend described it as a hipster coffee place, but little did he know, instead of us not wanting to go for that reason, it only made us want to check it out even more. :)
Hipsters really know their coffee (I mean hello, Portland!) so that’s usually the kind of place you’d want to go to grab a really good cup-a-joe.
At Paper or Plastik, they make a point to let you know where they’re sourcing their beans.
It was nice to spot our home town brand, Intelligentsia, being offered as well.
They offer a daily pour-over bar and when we were there the bean options were Kenya, Ethiopia and Brazil.
A Familiar Paleo Breakfast
The only food we tried was their breakfast plate, on the menu you’ll find it called the Classy Breakfast. It was so good, we ate the same thing from the same place two mornings in a row.
We dined at Paper or Plastik back to back days because not only was the bacon super tasty but the entire meal was exactly what I would have made at home!
Classy Breakfast consists of two eggs (with your choice of how they’re cooked), two slices of bacon (which were so delicious, I had to get the name and location of where they sourced it from) and a baby spinach salad with pickled red onions, strawberries and a side of home fries.
Eating here two days in a row was simply a no-brainer. We stopped in for our Paleo breakfast and promptly made our way to the beach. :)
It’s sometimes really nice to know that you’ve found a great place you can rely on where not only will someone else cook for you, but you don’t have to worry about how the food is prepared. Actually that’s the reason why we do these Paleo restaurant reviews. Not only have we found places we would return to again and again, we want others to be aware of the options so they can also do the same thing. :)
A Comfortable Place To Eat, Work & Play
The atmosphere of this coffee shop is also really inviting.
There are really high ceilings providing an open environment. The decor is made up of gritty cement floors, steal tables and wooden chairs. There’s a whole schedule posted on the chalkboard wall with a list of events going on.
There is seating available upstairs if you want to stay and work and a little sign on the first floor that is reserved just for people who are eating and drinking. Plus, there are tables available if you want to sit outside as well on the patio.
Paper or Plastik Cafe is not just a coffee shop. Next time you’re in LA and looking for a coffee or delicious Paleo breakfast, stop on by.
