Brownies are kind of a cross between a cake and a cookie. They can range from fudgy to cakey. They’re made with wheat, sugar, eggs, butter, and chocolate. They can also include nuts, chocolate chips, and other flavorings, but they are not Paleo.
Paleo and Carbohydrates
Wheat already causes a problem because it is high in gluten and extremely high in carbohydrates. It creates a sugar rush and our bodies have to produce a lot of insulin to deal with all that sugar. Insulin promotes the storage of nutrients as fat and prevents the breakdown of fat cells for energy. This leaves us fat, tired, and sick.
Carbs + Sugar
That’s just the wheat. Sugar also causes a spike in blood sugar and insulin, so eating wheat and sugar together is a recipe for disaster. Even an occasional indulgence can have lasting consequences.
