Chives come from a plant so they can definitely be considered part of a healthy Paleo diet, not to mention a delicious way to add a little flavor to any meal. A member of the onion family, this herb has been reported to have health benefits similar to garlic, such as improving circulation and maybe even antiseptic properties.
Paleo and Nutrition
As far as nutrients, this little plant is full of protein, vitamins A and C, calcium, and iron. It’s also rich in sulfur and Mark Sisson has a whole post about why we should be sure to eat sulfur-rich alliums (like chives) on a daily basis.
Since chives are generally used as an herb, though, they are not a significant source of these nutrients. Unless you want to eat chives by the handful, but that’s your call.
