Cubanelle peppers (a.k.a. Cuban peppers) are a variety of sweet peppers often used in Cuban cuisine. They tend to be oblong and a little wrinkled, but taste more sweet than spicy.
The Nutrients
Peppers are high in vitamins A, C, and B6, all of which are necessary for boosting the immune system and eliminating free radicals. Mark Sisson even labeled them a smart fuel.
Paleo and Autoimmune Protocol
That said, all peppers are nightshades, and although most of us can eat nightshades without any issues, some people are sensitive to and should avoid them. Nightshades can cause inflammation and the host of health problems that come with it, and if you think this might be the case for you, you’re better off eliminating them for at least a month. Then slowly reintroduce them and note how they make you feel.
