The kiwifruit (kiwi for short) is a type of berry that can absolutely be included as part of a Paleo lifestyle. These little fruits come packed with vitamins C, E, and K, as well as a host of B vitamins, all of which are vital to our health. Kiwis are also rich in trace minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
Some evidence has even shown that kiwis may be an effective blood thinner. One study found that consuming 2-3 kiwis per day for four weeks significantly reduced platelet aggregation and triglycerides, resulting in about the same level of reduced risk of cardiovascular disease as taking a daily dose of aspirin.
Paleo and Carbohydrates
Although some people who are severely restricting their carbohydrate intake prefer to avoid fruits altogether, such practices are highly individual. If you are trying to get into or stay in ketosis, then you should probably avoid most fruits. If, on the other hand, you find that you feel better with a slightly higher carbohydrate intake, kiwis can be an excellent source for those delicious carbs, particularly after a heavy workout. Just remember that what works best for one person may not work as well for another, so play around and see what works best for you.
