Since coffee is Paleo, there’s no reason we can’t include black tea. It has less caffeine than coffee, but it also has more antioxidants.
The Health Benefits
Despite it’s caffeine content, black tea has been associated with numerous health benefits, including protecting against heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and even cancer. Whole foods (and black tea counts as a whole food, despite the processing involved), are so much more than one component. We can’t write off tea simply because it has caffeine. The vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that come with that caffeine play their part too, and they are significant.
