The Flavor
Boston lettuce (a.k.a. butter lettuce) is a variety of lettuce that tends to have a slightly sweet, mild flavor. If you can’t handle the bitterness that comes with some of the darker leafy greens, start with some Boston lettuce and go from there.
The Nutrients
Like other varieties of lettuce, Boston lettuce comes loaded with vitamin K and various B vitamins. Vitamin K is essential for transporting calcium to our bones from our bloodstream, which is good because otherwise the calcium just hangs out in our arteries, building up plaque. It’s also good because lettuce tends to come with a fair amount of calcium, as well as iron and manganese, all of which are vital nutrients.
