Chorizo is a type of pork sausage, usually seasoned with salt and paprika. Since all these ingredients are Paleo, there’s no reason chorizo can’t be included as part of a healthy diet.
The Varieties
Spanish chorizo comes in a few different varieties. It can be either spicy or sweet, depending on the seasoning used and how much is used. It can also be sold raw, or it is sometimes smoked or cured. There are also leaner varieties and fattier varieties. Of course, those of us living a Paleo lifestyle love our fat, knowing it’s a vital macronutrient.
Paleo and Nutrient-Dense Foods
Whichever type of chorizo you end up going with, know you’re getting a nutrient-rich meal, full of vitamins and minerals. You can even make your own. All it takes is some ground pork and whatever seasonings you prefer. Mark Sisson even has a post on how to choose your pork.
