From Seed To Spice
Cumin is a spice made from ground seeds of the cumin plant. Since living a Paleo lifestyle is all about eating plants, animals, nuts, and seeds, we can certainly include cumin as part of a Paleo-friendly diet.
The Nutrients
Like most seeds, cumin is extremely high in minerals like iron, magnesium, and manganese. It also has an array of B vitamins, but because it is used primarily as a spice to flavor food, it is not a significant source of any of these nutrients.
Potential Health Effects
Even without the nutrients, there is evidence to suggest that cumin may be able to impart a number of antioxidant effects. It might have the ability to protect against all sorts of things, especially if you’re a diabetic rat.
