Fudge is basically candy, so it’s hard to call it Paleo. It usually consists of sugar, butter, and milk, plus some sort of flavoring. Chocolate is probably the most common, but fruit and sometimes various candies can also be added.
The Dangers of Sugar
For the most part, sugar is not Paleo, and fudge is mostly sugar. By the time you add milk (which is also high in sugar), candy and dried fruit, you’re in for a massive sugar rush. All that sugar does much more than spike our blood sugar and insulin levels. It also inhibits our immune systems, increases cortisol (the hormone your body produces when under stress), decreases appetite, and may play a part in promoting the growth of cancer cells.
Mark Sisson has even more reasons to avoid sugar.
