Many Paleo naysayers would have you believe we eat nothing but meat. That’s just not true, but we do love our meat. Humans have been eating flesh for millennia and we don’t see any reason to stop now.
An Excellent Source of Protein
Goat can certainly be included as a Paleo-friendly source of protein. As with all meat, it is an excellent source of iron, various B vitamins, and healthy fat.
Eat the Whole Animal
That’s just the muscle meat though. It is only fairly recently that Americans stopped eating the bones, organs, and viscera of animals. This is unfortunate, because these are the most nutritious parts of the animal and goats are no exception. If you’re looking to expand your carnivorous palate, you can usually do what Mark Sisson did and ask your local butcher if they have goat head, or other unusual parts that most people don’t want. Pound for pound, you’ll probably get a good deal on what you buy, to say nothing of the extra nutrients.
