Habaneros come from plants, so they can absolutely be included as part of a Paleo diet if you can take the heat.
Health Benefits
Habaneros are among the hottest of the hot peppers. If you can handle them, they’ve got some pretty powerful health benefits. The capsaicin that gives them their heat is thought to have anti-inflammatory properties that can help relieve headaches and arthritis. It is also thought to have anti-cancer properties, and regions that consume a lot of hot peppers have low incidences of intestinal, stomach, and colon cancers. It’s only correlational evidence, but still worth nothing.
Nutrient-Dense Fire
In addition to capsaicin, peppers come loaded with vitamins A and C, an excellent recipe for good eyesight as well as a healthy immune system.
Mark Sisson considers hot peppers to be a smart fuel.
