Seeds can almost always be included as part of a healthy Paleo lifestyle. Just remember they make up one of the smallest portions of a good Paleo diet. Like most seeds, hemp is pretty high in protein, vitamin E, iron, magnesium, and potassium.
Paleo and PUFAs
The fat profile is a problem. The fat in hemp seeds is almost entirely polyunsaturated fats (PUFA) which are unstable when exposed to heat and light. As long as you’re consuming the whole seeds and eating them raw or lightly toasted, you shouldn’t have to worry about the fats oxidizing. Just stay away from the oil.
If you do decide to snack on a palmful of hemp seeds, just be sure to eat some extra fish or something high in omega-3 fats to make up for it.
