The Health Benefits
Like most plants, pineapple comes loaded with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C (not just for warding off scurvy). It also contains an enzyme that is particularly effective at reducing inflammation, which is good news because inflammation has been linked to all sorts of chronic health problems, from gout to diabetes.
Paleo and Carbohydrates
It is high in sugar though, so depending on your carbohydrate tolerance, you may want to avoid, or at least limit, your consumption of pineapple. Provided you can effectively handle the healthy, natural source of sugar, there’s no reason not to include pineapple as part of your Paleo lifestyle. Mark Sisson even labeled it a smart fuel.
