Rapini (a.k.a. broccoli rabe, as well as a host of other names) is a leafy green, and I think we all know by know that leafy greens are really good for you.
The Importance of Vitamin K
To start with, they usually come loaded with vitamin K, and rapini is no different. Vitamin K is essential for transporting calcium out of our bloodstream to our bones and teeth. Without vitamin K, we can drink all the milk we want, but our bones and teeth won’t get any of the benefit.
A Source of Antioxidants
Like all plants, rapini also comes loaded with antioxidants. In particular it has a type of phytochemical that has been studied for its ability to help prevent certain cancers and eliminate toxins from the body.
Rapini is such a great source of nutrients that Mark Sisson labeled it a smart fuel.
