Sorbet is just water that has been sweetened, usually with fruit juice, sugar, and sometimes wine. Since juice and sugar are not Paleo, we can’t include sorbet on the Paleo menu either.
The Benefits of Whole Foods
Although many of us have become accustomed to thinking of fruit as healthy, it does tend to be high in sugar. Whole foods certainly have a place in a healthy Paleo lifestyle, but when we reduce those whole foods to juice, we’re left with mostly sugar, a few vitamins, and none of the fiber that helps feed our gut bacteria and slow the digestion of all that sugar. The result is a sugar high that is sure to lead to a crash, leaving you feeling tired, cranky, and craving more sugar.
Mark Sisson has plenty of reasons to avoid sugar in his definitive guide to sugar.
